Kindergarten - The Beginning of the Journey
Foundation Stone of Naval Kindergarten School was laid by Vice Admiral KL Kulkarni PVSM, FOC-in-C Eastern Naval Command on 13 Jan 1974 for NKG, Vijay Baugh. The School started functioning from 04 Nov 1974 which was inaugurated by Cmde PC Rajkhowa AVSM, Naval Officer-in-Charge. Andaman & Nicobar Islands. With the growth of A & N Command, a second branch of NKG Port Blair on 12 Mar 1999. NKG, Vijay Baugh will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee in November 2024.
The school has grown in strength and facilities over the years. From a humble beginning with barely 35 children in the first academic session, the school now boasts with 280 tiny tots at NKG, Vijay Baugh in this session.
We have 11 dedicated teachers, a Teacher Coordinator and a Headmistress along-with 14 Non-teaching staff working relentlessly towards our aim. The school caters for the pre-primary educational requirements, mainly for children of Defence Personnel. It also extends its facilities to Defence Civilians and civilians within the limited seats available.
The school has three sections each of Balvatika I, Balvatika II and Balvatika III along with Music Room, Activity Room and an Auditorium for conducting special events or assemblies. Smart boards are installed in the Balvatika III classes in academic session along-with other infrastructural facilities are upgraded. We have upgraded our CCTV camera, Central Announcement System.

We aim to build a strong foundation for future academic and personal success, preparing each child to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Our mission is to deliver a high-quality early education that emphasizes academic excellence, social development, and emotional well-being, while instilling core values of integrity, respect, and curiosity. We are committed to partnering with families and the community to ensure each child's success and joy in learning.
The primary aims of NKGs are for their children to:
(a) Experience a supported and successful transition from home or child care to Kindergarten and Kindergarten to school.
(b) Feel safe and secure in a caring and learning environment.
(c) Develop confidence in new situations to take risks and try new experiences.
(d) Develop a positive image of themselves as powerful learners.
(e) Be resilient with a growth mindset which sees mistakes as learning opportunities.
(f) Develop skills in getting along with others and making new friends.
(g) Learn co-operatively with others.
(h) Learn sustainable practices and a sense of responsibility for environment.
(i) Leam from literacy, numeracy and science experiences.
(j) Participate in learning experiences with time to explore, be curious, ask questions, experiment and have fun while learning.
